Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust has been facilitating for 25 years the passage and implementation of policies that are necessary to protect public health and environment. With support of 250 active networks across the country, the organization continues to carry out strong activities in tobacco control, health, environment, urban transport and planning, conserving water resources, and ensuring economic and social equity. The cooperation of various public and private organizations has led WBB Trust to achieve this milestone. We hope that the cooperation will continue in our future venture.
On 22 January 2024, Monday, at 10.00 a.m., 25 years anniversary of the organization was celebrated at its own office and these words were expressed in this day-long event.
Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust's Head of Program Syeda Anonna Rahman and Senior Project Manager Ziaur Rahman jointly moderated the event and Advisor Debra Efroymson delivered the welcome speech. Besides, Dhaka-10 Constituency Member of Parliament Ferdous Ahmed, Former MP of Gaibandha-1 Constituency Barrister Shamim Haider Patwari, Former Civil Surgeon Officer Mushfiqur Rahman, Senior Health Education Officer Md. Mohsin Mia, Chairman of Pathikrit Foundation Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali, Chairman of Poribesh Bachao Andolan Abu Naser Khan, President of Bangladesh Institute of Planners Adil Mohammad Khan, President of Nagorik Odhikar Shangrakkhan Forum Hafizur Rahman Moyna, Adviser of DAS Aminul Islam Bakul, President of Green Voice Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, Vice President of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpogosthi Jamsed Anwar Tapan and Shivani Bhattacharya, social activist Syeda Ratna and representatives of various network organizations of WBB Trust and well wishers were present in the ceremony.

Their activities to protect public health are highly commendable. Tobacco control and non-communicable disease control as well as promoting mental and physical health through preserving parks-playgrounds-open public spaces and by creating community-based socialization opportunity is truly appreciable. I wish them success.
The invited guests in a brief discussion at the beginning of the celebration said that since beginning, WBB Trust has been working to create public awareness for the protection of public health and environment and is also contributing to building healthy and inclusive city through strong advocacy to the government. A great strength of WBB Trust is its strong support from a nationwide network organization.
WBB Trust has many achievements in its long journey of 25 years. Among them, contributing to the formulation of tobacco control law, DAP (2022-2035), community-based mobile playground for socialization opportunities, creating 5 small-scale parks, introducing Ministry of Railway, celebration of world car-free day, creating 16 neighborhood farmers’ markets in Dhaka, are noteworthy.
