The number of parks and playgrounds in Dhaka city is very insufficient. It can be said that there is no opportunity for girls or women to play in this limited number of playgrounds and parks. This has a negative effect on their physical and mental health.
World Habitat Day has been celebrated on the first Monday of October every year since 1986. In 2022, the theme of the day has been decided: “Mind the Gap. Leave No One and Place Behind”. Today, October 3, 2022, on the occasion of World Habitat Day, Rayer Bazar High School, Dhaka Ideal Cadet School, Dhanmondi Kachikantha High School, Ali Hossain Girls' School, Success Model High School, the Institute of Wellbeing Bangladesh, and Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust jointly organized demonstration and demanded to ensure accessibility for all including women, children, and persons with disabilities, in parks and playgrounds.
Dhaka Ideal Cadet School founder MA Mannan Monir, Rayer Bazar High School assistant teacher Tahajjot Hossain, Dhanmondi Kachikantha High School teacher Rita Akhtar, and Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust project manager Naima Akter were present in the program. Officials of the Institute of Wellbeing Bangladesh, the Carfree Cities Alliance Bangladesh, and the Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust were also present.
