Safe food is a great challenge for people in Bangladesh, especially living in the urban settings. Department of Agricultural Extension is implementing various initiative, such as providing training, inputs, regular monitoring, to encourage good agricultural practice (GAP) among farmers. Due to poor market system and influence of middlemen, farmers are deprived from proper price of their produce and consumers are deprived from accessing safe food. Thus, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is establishing 16 farmers’ market in greater Dhaka under Dhaka Food System project. Today we are inaugurating second farmers’ market in Gazipur, and 7th market under the project. We believe, this market will ensure access to safe food for the community people.
