Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, Mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation, is working hard to develop the city. Thus, an initiative to establish two farmers’ market in Narayanganj city has been undertaken. Already a market has been inaugurated and operating regularly in ward no.15 of NCC. And the second market is being inaugurated in ward no.12 of NCC to benefit both consumers and farmers.

On 16^th September 2022, the inauguration ceremony of the farmers’ market in ward no.12 of NCC was jointly organized by Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Narayanganj City Corporation, Department of Agricultural Extension, Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations, and Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust. And speakers opined such during the inauguration ceremony.

This farmers’ market was inaugurated by Showkat Hashem Shoku, Councilor, ward no.12, NCC. The ceremony was moderated by Ziaur Rahman, Senior Project Manager, WBB Trust and speakers of the program were Minoara Begaum, reserved Councilor, ward no. 10,11,12, NCC; KM Faridul Miraj, Chief Social Welfare and Slum Development Officer, NCC; Xavier Bouan, Senior Technical Advisor, Dhaka Food System Project, FAOBD; Farzana Yeasmin, District Food Safety Officer; Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, Narayanganj; Rupali Khatun, Additional Agricultural Officer, Upazila Agriculture Extension Office, Sadar, Narayanganj; Rahima Sharif Maya, Volunteer, Naraynganj.
