Keep Public Places Like Book Fair Smoke-Free

All public places and public transports are smoke-free as per Tobacco Control Law. Ekushe Book Fair at Bangla Academy premises should be considered as public place because thousands of people come at Academy premises which are smoke-free by the law. It is aurgent to keep places where common people including women and children visit usually.

Renowned writer Imdadul Haq Milon at an awareness campaign to keep Ekushe Book Fair smoke-free and mass awareness stressed on the issues. Prattyasha Anti-Drugs Club and WBB Trust jointly organized “Leaflet campaign by children and adolscents for smoke-free public Places” on 10 February 2013.

 Ibnul Syed Rana, Chairman of NDF, Syed Mahbubul Alam, secretary of departmental affairs of Bangladesh Tamak Birodhi Jote (The Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance-BATA), and Syeda Anonna Rahman, National Advocacy Officer of WBB Trust were present in the program.Common people should be made aware of the impacts of smoking and passive smoke and mass media has a major role hereof. In addition law should be toughened so that none can smoke in public places” Imdadul Haq Milon added.
