Eco-city is about building cities and towns based on ecological principles for the long term sustainability, cultural vitality and health of the Earth's biosphere. Cities are where most people live, where most resources and energy are consumed, and where most wastes are produced. To avert further destruction of the earth's life-support systems, cities must be transformed into places where people can live their lives healthily while reducing their ecological impacts. The great challenge of this century will be to harmonize human activity with the earth's fragile biosphere. Eco-city is an initiative in this way that focuses on the overall sustainability of the city along with the ecology of the earth.
This exhibition on Eco-City Planning is being held at the Cafeteria Extension of Central Auditorium Complex of BUET. The exhibition schedule is: 5 July 2007 (6:00 pm?8 pm), 6 and 7 July 2007 (10 am-8 pm).
