WBB Trust, SCOPE and TFK jointly organized the divisional workshop on tobacco control law development in Barishal DC office on 4 February 2009. Mr Musfik Ahmed Shamim (DC, Barishal district) was present as chief guest and Dr. Pulin Kumar Sing (Civil Surgeon, Barishal) as special guest. The workshop had presided by SM Iqbal (president, Barishal press club) and welcome speech had given by Kazi Enayet Hossain (ED, SCOPE). Syeda Anonna Rahman (Project Oficer, WBB) had present the keynote paper about tobacco control law development recommendations and ATM Shahidul Islam present another paper about tobacco control law and law implementation situation in Bangladesh. Aminul Islam Sujon (Sr. Project Officer, WBB) moderated the workshop. There participants argue that discussion about the tobacco disease but it does not include the chewing tobacco as the cause. There should be more mobile courts have to take place to ensure smoke free place and proper law implication.
Mr. Mahbubul Karim (Magistrate), Dr Mijanur Rahman (Residential medical officer, Barishal general hospital), Md. Murtuja Abedin (Counsilor, Barishal City Corporetion), Anisur Rahman (ED of Sanaid), Khalilur Rahman (ED of Nalchity Model Society), Jahid Hossain Khan (ED, GDS), Ishaq Ali Mizan (ED, YES Bangladesh) were present in the workshop.
