Non-Communicable Diseases such as diabetics, heart disease, stroke, respiratory diseases and cancer can be prevented up to 80% by a well regulated life through changing food habit, regular physical toiling. Use of junk food and fast food is increasing diseases in the country. Some measures- imposition of high tax, ban on advertisements should be taken to develop public health and national expenditure on health. Prevention of diseases is better than its treatment. So, all should come forward for awareness creation on the issues. Yet, only awareness is not sufficient to control heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetics and cancer; significant policy and infrastructural changes should be ensured for this purpose. Local government can play vital role in this regard. Speakers made these comments at a divisional workshop on “Divisional Workshop on Non-communicable disease” in Bachte Shekha Auditorium, Jessore on October 04, 2012.
