Save the Environment Movement (SEM), Nirapad Development Foundatio and Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust jointly organised a Demonstration demand of reduce rail fare and reconsider increased rail fare to ensure cheap and safe transportation at October 11, 2012 in Kamlapur Railway Station. The main objective of rail is serving public; not trade. Mass betterment is the only concern of rail. At present, the proposed 50% increase of rail fare is in fact 100% increase of the actual fare which deters actual objective of Railway. The fare should be scrutinized and reduced to ensure the services of railway for mass people. It is a obstacle for development of railway on the eve of its regaining of popularity. Because of the development and expansion of roads & highways, endeavor was made to damage railway. As a result, roads & highways have been increased thousands times compared to the decrease of railway. Increase of rail fare will create opportunity for road transport traders.
