Initiatives have been taken to develop the parks and playgrounds under the jurisdiction of the City Corporation. Still, several of them are closed due to the development works that must be completed within the specified time. Some parks and playgrounds are open, but they are mostly closed to protect the grass and other materials. All the parks and playgrounds must be opened quickly to protect the physical and mental health of the city dwellers.

Today, 17 August 2023, at 11.00 am in front of Shahbag National Museum, the Institute for Planning and Development, NASF, Pratyasha Anti-Drug Club, Green Voice, Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, and 17 other organizations organized a human chain to reopen the parks and playgrounds quickly after completing the development works and speakers opined such in the event.

The program was presided over by MA Mannan Monir, founder of Dhaka Ideal Cadet School and moderated by Md. Mithun, assistant project officer of Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, and Ziaur Rahman, senior project manager of the organization, gave a welcome speech. Md Tahajjot Hossain, Assistant Teacher of Rayerbazar High School, Syed Borhanuddin, Advocacy and Communication Officer of B-Scan, Zakir Hossain, President of DDP, and Mahamudul Hasan, Communication Officer of Institute of Wellbeing Bangladesh also spoke.
