As per the announcement of celebrating car free street event on first Friday of each month from Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Mr Obaidul Qader MP, car free street event has been observed on 1^st December 2017. The day was observed in a gloomy environment because of the death of Mayor Annisul Haque of Dhaka North City Corporation. At the beginning there was a moment of silence in his honor. On 2016 Car Free Day celebration he said that, public transport will be developed and usage of private car will be controlled. Also walking environment will be developed. He directed his ward councilors to select roads to make those car free. As per that, road no 03 of Mohammadi Housing Society (ward no 33) and Rajia Sultana Road (ward no 31) were selected by research. Later late Mayor Annisul Haque became severely sick. His initiatives will keep him alive among us. Speakers said as above on the event.

Executive Director of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority Syed Ahmed said that, Mayor Annisul Haque has taken lots of initiatives to make Dhaka livable. It is our responsibility to fulfill his dreams. Besides, Gaous Pearee, Director, Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust; Maruf Hossain, Program Manager, Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, Anisur Rahman, Project Director, CASE Project, Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority were present in the program. In the event there were yoga, meditation and art competition for children.
