There is no difference between Women right and Human right. Every single issue of human right is applicable to women right. Moreover, there are some more rights for women to have which help them to live a better life with their respect and rights. It is necessary to change social values and mentality which will help the women to establish their rights and to eliminate violence against them. Without having mental change, countries never develop itself. In our country, women are half of total population and hence, negative mentalities to them can never make development in person, family, society, and in the state as well. To establish women right, organizations, political parties, and other institutions have to work together. Many problems will get solution throughout establishing women right. On 8th February 2016, at 10 am Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust organized month long awareness campaign on 8th March International Women Day (IWD) in the conference room of WBB Trust. There speakers expressed their opinions on this. Besides, on the occasion for IWD there were arranged campaign, leaflet distribution, and seminar on sharing opinion among many governmental and nongovernmental universities.
Saifuddin Ahmed, Executive director WBB Trust mentioned that women of our society silently contribute in family, society, and the state. However, they do not get any reorganization of that though they keep themselves busy working at home and outside. These works by women should be considered as contribution in economy. Again, men need to come forward to help women at household works. Evaluating women’s house works will play an important role to eliminate violence against women.
Aaroma Dattaa, Executive director Prip Trust, as an opening speaker said that first we have to find out women’s problems and then we need to work on solving those. In this case, education will work as the principal weapon in establishing women’s right and there education can build up a helpful environment for women. She added, comparing with past women have gone so far and it has been possible with the changes of human minds. We can think about Rokeya Sakhwat Hossain, who could not go to school to learn but many women are being enlitened in her established school at present.
Naznin Kabir, Deputy Program Manager WBB Trust said that women’s contribution at household works is not still acceptable in economy. Thus, research on household works in greater view should be done to get a clear idea about women’s contribution in economy. This attempt will be meaningful and successful too, if others feel the same necessity. Like other organizations we work on Gender issue, train up women and then the issue ’Household works’ comes up indirectly with its importance. Tanjila Chowdhury, Asst. advocacy officer mentioned that if women’s works are prohibited, economy of the country will be prohibited too. To establish equal society, evaluation for household works is mandatory.
The program was presided by Naznin Kabir, deputy program manager WBB Trust and there Gaous Pearee, Director WBB Trust; Syeda Anonna Rahman, Program officer Health Right WBB Trust; Allama Dedar, project officer Democracy Watch; Nahid Parvin, Program director; and Sabnaz were present.
