Aiming to increase public awareness about consumer rights, the Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust organized a view exchange meeting at its office on 09 February 2017. Dr. Md Shahadat Hossain, Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Department presented keynote speech while Gaous Pearee, Director of WBB Trust was in the chair.

Dr. Md Shahadat Hossain said, ‘to ensure consumers rights, there had to face difficulties in the implementation of activities both in national and local level. Increase of mass awareness about Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009 is necessary to overcome these obstacles. To protect consumers’ interest, some amendment and addition in the several provisions of the law are necessary to make. Everyone is consumer in their daily lives, so everyone should come forward and work to ensure their consumer rights.’

He also answered the questions of participants in the question-answer session. Representatives from market owners association, bakery owners association, NGO, CSO were present in the meeting.
