Policy developments have to be prevented from Tobacco companies interference

Government should take action to prevent tobacco industry interference in tobacco control and public health. FCTC article 5.3 is a powerful tool for preventing tobacco companies plot against the development of tobacco control. By utilizing the tool it is necessary to take forward tobacco control activities. Anti-tobacco activist appealed for developing a guideline for implementation of Article 5.3 in a meeting titled "Discussion on FCTC Article 5.3 and violations of law by the tobacco industries" on 26th October, 2015. The meeting held at Conference room of Health Economics Unit of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

In the meeting the coordinator of NTCC Md. Ruhul Kuddus was in the chair and speeches given by Syed Mahbubul Alam, Technical Advisor, The Union; Helal Ahmed, Secretary General, Prottyasha; AKM Khalilullah, Project Manager, NATAB; Anayet Hossain, ED, Scope etc. The Chief Guest of the meeting was Md. Asadul Islam, Director General, Health Economics Unit of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. WBB trusts's Executive Director Saifuddin Ahmed gave welcome speech and Md. Amin-Ul-Ahsan, Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration presented his paper in the meeting.

Moreover representatives from Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs, Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, ACLAB, Dhaka International University, TCRC, CTFK, Shwapner Siri Social Welfare Organization, Progga, Manobik, Institute of Well-being, Bangladesh Cancer Society, Grameen Unnayan Sangstha etc was present in the meeting.
