Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust has organized a leaflet campaign to observe International Rural Women Day on 15^th October 2015, 11 am at Sankar, Dhanmondi. 15^th October was declared to be observed as International Rural Women Day at Beijing on International Women Summit of 1995. It was recognized by United Nations on 18^th December 2007. Bangladesh also observes the day each year.

The leaflet campaign was led by Naznin Kabir, Deputy Program Manager, WBB Trust. Speakers said, women’s’ contribution must be recognized in all statistics and their unrecognized household works should be counted in national economy. Bangladesh Bureau must conduct survey of women’s labor on both public and private sector. Moreover, Programs should be taken to implement National Women Development Policy 2011.  

Naznin Kabir said that, half of the total population of Bangladesh is female. They are the victim of discrimination in various ways. Most of the rural women do agricultural works along with household works. These works remain unrecognized. If these works are recognized then the rate of discrimination will decrease. And she will get priority in decision making. So it is important to recognize household works in national economy.

Tanzila Hoque, Naima Akter, Assistant Advocacy Officer, WBB Trust participated in the leaflet campaign. Besides, Lipi Akter, Uddog led a campaign in front of Eden College, Farhana Zaman Liza and Mohiuddin Rasel, Research Assistant, Dhaka International University led campaign in front of Banani campus. Amena Easmin and Mouni Akash Leena led campaign in front of Stamford University. Udayan Bangladesh Bagerhat, Moumachi Shatkhira, Nolcity Model Society Jhalkathi, Wep Kishoreganj, Nari Kalyan Shangstha Narayanganj, Saaf Kushtia, DPP Sirajgonj and many other organizations participated in the leaflet campaign outside of Dhaka.
