Taking preventive measure is one of the effective ways of reducing health cost. Health promotion foundation can be a legal stand which will take ahead the initiative to ensure and strengthen the disease prevention measures. Unhealthy diet, tobacco consumption, indiscipline lifestyle is responsible for non-communicable diseases. Parliament Members committed to continue support to establish a Health Promotion Foundation for NCDs and Tobacco Control. During a view exchange meeting held at IPD conference hall of Bangladesh Parliament on 14 September 2015, parliament members express their commitment.
Advocate Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah, Deputy Speaker of Parliament was present as a chief guest in the meeting. As special guest Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, senior president, NATAB was present there and other Honorable guest Md. Shahab Uddin, Whip; Md. Israfil Alam, parliament member of Naogaon-6; Dr. Md. Rustom Ali Faraji, parliament member of Pirojpur-3; Quazi Rosy, parliament member of Seat-41 and Ummey Razia Kajol, parliament member of Seat-43 was also attend the program.
Speakers said, under the control of non-communicable diseases, preventive measures do not get preference in the existing health system. Every year about 4% people becomes poor for bearing treatment cost. Priority should be given on adopting preventive measures to control NCDs. Formation of the Health Promotion Foundation will play important role in this regard. It is the most crucial demand at this time. The present government is committed to take any action to protect public health.

The wellcome speech given by Nikhil Chandra Bhadra, Executive Director, Protect to Journalist, the keynote speaker was Advocate syed Mahbubul Alam. The meeting was presided by Gaous Pearee, Director of WBB Trust and Moderated by Syeda Anonna Rahman, Program Manager, WBB Trust.
Representative from different anti-tobacco organizations, civil society and other NGOs participated in the meeting.
