Order will be given as early as possible to all field officers of Narcotics control Department to execute tobacco control act. This opinion has been given in a view exchange meeting arranged by 4 anti-tobacco organizations at the Department of Narcotics Control on 29th July 2015

Amir Hossain, Additional Deputy General; Pronob Kumar Niyogi, Joint Secretary; Nazmul Ahsan Mozumder, Joint Secretary; Abul Hossain, Assistant Director of Department of Narcotics Control; Syeda Anonna Rahman, National Advocacy Officer; Sharmin Akter, Assistant project Officer; Syed Saiful Alam, Media Advocacy Officer of WBB Trust; Helal Ahmed, General Secretary of Prottyasha Anti Tobacco Organization; Shumon Sheikh, Programe Officer of Manobik; Jisan Mahmud, Reprentative, SERAC Bangladesh and more were present in the meeting.
Speakers said it is commendable initiative of govt. to build awareness among people about multidimensional harmful use of toxic product like tobacco. Narcotics control Department will take necessary steps to ensure the implementation of tobacco control act. It is motioned in the meeting that continuous promotion of tobacco products is against the law and it is influencing the young generations to be addicted. Officers of Narcotics Control Department have authorized to execute the tobacco control act. It will play supportive role to implement the law at local level. They also said smoking and other tobacco use cause diseases like cancer, heart attacks which costs lots of money to be cured both individual and state level. So use of tobacco has to be stopped at any cost. Availability of pictorial warning in the packet can be help effectively to reduce the use tobacco. Mobile code conduction can also ensure the effective execution of the law. Department of Narcotics Control can play a vital role in this regard.
