Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, POBA and Urban and Regional Planning Department organized  a Round Table Discussion "Improve existing Railway instead of elevated expressway" on 26 December, 2011. In order to improve the communication of Dhaka City some projects like Elevated Expressway, Metro rail, and several Flyovers are under construction. The 26 kilometers elevated Expressway of eleven thousands crore taka will maximize congestion, boosting private car, pollution and fuel dependence. Installation of 3^rd and 4^th railway line from Tongi to Kamlapur will be impossible for Elevated Expressway. So, quality commuter train and enough railway line are to be prioritized instead of such ambitious elevated expressway. In addition, instead of elevated expressway smooth communication system can be developed with low costs bus service, creating walking facilities and fuel free transports.
