An Economic Tool to Increase Government Revenue and Improve Health: Tobacco Tax (Bengali only)

One of the single most effective tools in tobacco control is tobacco taxation.  As taxes on tobacco products go up, consumption goes down, especially among youth and the poor.  This book explains the relationship between taxes and consumption, and how increased tobacco taxation can simultaneously improve health and generate much-needed government revenue.  The book also offers suggestions on dealing with smuggling.

This report contains research in Bangladesh on various aspects of tobacco control law (children's exposure to advertising, and popular demand for strong tobacco control law and for smoke-free transport), on efforts by the tobacco industry to weaken laws in other countries, and recommendations for action in Bangladesh.
